20 Upcoming Movies That Might Be Surprisingly Good
9. Goat
The temptation to instinctively dismiss Goat as another low-effort animation is understandable, because this is a sports comedy about a goat who wishes to become the GOAT (greatest of all time, get it?) in a basketball-like sport called roarball.
It feels somebody came up with the title and basic idea in a haze of bong smoke and then decided to figure out the rest later.
After all, the goat joke at the core of this movie is such low hanging fruit that it's reasonable to assume the rest of the film is probably similarly unambitious.
But let's be real - Sony Pictures Animation has been on an absolute tear in recent years, and even outside of the Spider-Verse-inspired animation style, the actual art direction and voice acting are pretty damn fantastic.
Plus, it's being co-directed by Tyree Dillihay (Bob's Burgers) and Adam Rosette, who has worked in the art department on both The Bad Guys and The Wild Robot.
If you can overlook its corny title, this could actually be one of 2026's most surprisingly great movies.
