20 Upcoming Movies That Might Be Surprisingly Good
2. Street Fighter
Considering that both previous live-action Street Fighter movies were terrible, why expect any different this time around?
All the more so with director Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) having little prior experience directing big-budget action, and writer Dalan Musson having previously penned the mediocre likes of Iron Sky: The Coming Race and Captain America: Brave New World.
Then there's the utterly unhinged casting choices across the board, from WWE superstars Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes playing Akuma and Guile respectively, to 50 Cent portraying Balrog, Jason Momoa appearing as Blanka, and country musician Orville Peck playing Vega, to name just a few.
But a teaser trailer for the movie dropped late last year and made it abundantly clear that Street Fighter 2026 knows exactly what it is.
This isn't a movie that's taking itself remotely seriously, and is clearly just having fun serving up over-the-top action with solid visuals and a cast who, frankly, mostly look pretty great.
Street Fighter isn't going to be high art, but would you even want it to be?
