Next up, 2022's indie horror hit The Mortuary Assistant will be getting the big-screen treatment, with the game revolving around a mortuary assistant who must identify and exorcise possessed corpses before they instead possess her.
The film was rather quietly shot last year before recently being acquired by streaming service Shudder, and while that might make some balk at its apparent quality, Shudder honestly sounds like a perfect home for a seemingly low-budget horror flick based on a relatively niche horror game.
With acclaimed filmmaker Jeremiah Kipp (Slapface) directing a two-hander led by the talented Willa Holland and Paul Sparks, there's every possibility this is a solid low-key chiller rather than yet another forgettable slice of straight-to-streaming slop.
