12. The Star Wars Credits Actually Crawl

George Lucas has since become entirely to enamoured with using digital effects, with almost all of the Star Wars prequels sat on green screen, and every monster being a computer construct. Which is a shame, because the originals made use of all kinds of cool practical effects, from stop-motion to miniatures. Perhaps most surprising of all, however, is how the iconic opening credits crawl was created. Not with any sort of primitive computer effects, but by literally writing it all out on a scroll and filming it was somebody reeled the text along, as seen above.
