20 Well-Known Movie "Facts" That Are Actually Bulls**t

5. CGI Was Used To Reduce Brandon Routh's Crotch Size Whilst In Costume - Superman Returns

Brandon Routh probably wishes this were true, given the state of his career now (erk!), but this well-known fact regarding the actor's crotch and the underrated Bryan Singer flick Superman Returns seems to have snowballed over the years - despite being a load of old codswallop. The story apparently goes that Routh's, uh, "package," was so visible whilst he wore the iconic Superman costume that a bunch of CGI was used in post-production to shrink it down to a more manageable size. Sorry to disappoint anybody who's been spreading this "fact" around, but it turns that it just isn't true in any capacity. According to both Routh and the costume designer on Superman Returns, it was a good old-fashioned codpiece that ensured Routh's "bulge" remained consistent for the sum of the movie - not a single inch of CGI was used on this particularly sensitive area.
