20 Worst Movie Moments Of The Decade
13. Saw 3D - The Franchise's Game Over
While no-one asked for the current continuation of the interesting but inconsistent Saw franchise, in some ways it's a relief. At least, after this most incompetent of endings, the franchise is getting a second chance.
Saw 3D is a complete dud from start to finish that doesn't ever feel like the ending of a big franchise. All it does is show Detective Hoffman, Jigsaw's apprentice, carry out yet another tiring and gratuitously unpleasant game involving a group of people who don't deserve their nightmarish fates and then killing Jill, the Jigsaw Killer's ex-wife, because of her trying to kill Hoffman at the end of the previous film.
After this, the film drops a painfully obvious plot twist that Lawrence Gordon, the first film's protagonist, is another apprentice who then kills Hoffman as the now-deceased Jigsaw had told him to take revenge if Jill was ever harmed.
This is pretty much how not to end a franchise. This left loads of unanswered questions and it didn't complete any of the character arcs in a meaningful way, ending this once-good franchise on a deeply disappointing note.
