8. If I Stay

Rotten Tomatoes: 36% YA adaptations tend to boast some degree of critic proofing, thanks to the success of the source that made them a viable property for adaptation in the first place, and If I Stay did actually make a shade under $80m from an $11m budget. But that doesn't mean it was worth that performance. It's soppy, sloppy and shamelessly manipulative, with its youthful audience clearly in firm sight, but even they can't have been truly moved by the emotional machinations. Chloe Moretz's performance was undoubtedly praise-worthy, but when it's so lathered in corn it's hard to really offer that praise without an almighty but... Sample Review:
