2. Boo! A Madea Halloween
That title is absolutely perfect if you choose to consider Boo to mean the expression of disdain rather than of fright. Because the latest addition to the absolutely baffling Madea franchise is terrible. It's not even close to being funny, and whatever goodwill there was for the character - who admittedly did have some laughs in her make-up to begin with - has now long since been exhausted.
There's no way this is an entry level movie for anyone - it won't win the character or Tyler Perry any new fans, but it's not like that will even affect the bottom line or the character's disturbing longevity. Quite why anyone would commit to something so sub-Klumps without any jokes for a reward is beyond any conventional logic.
This has to stop. Unfortunately, because the film made almost four times its budget, there's absolutely no way it's going to. So well done to all of the franchise devotees who have sat through nine outings so far without more than a handful of legitimately good moments.
