20 Worst Movies Of 2016

Criminal was actually pretty much a clone of another film about transferring the brains of one character (sort of) into other people also starring Ryan Reynolds released within the last year. Unfortunately for Reynolds, and anyone who watched them, both were terrible.

Attempting to be a high-concept sci-fi - the formula for which is basically meshing Face-Off with All Of Me and lots of psuedo-science- Criminal is undone rather fatally by some mind-numbing stupidity. For instance, Kevin Costner's criminal subject (you know he's a baddy because of his hair cut) is chosen because he suffered major brain trauma that made him a better criminal. What on earth possessed anyone to choose him as a neuro-science experiment?!

Like Terminator Genisys, Criminal tries way too hard to insist that it is clever, when in reality what's smart about it isn't new and what's new isn't smart. Nice cast though, which is a shame.
