20 Worst Movies Of 2021 (So Far)
9. Thunder Force
The latest collaboration between Melissa McCarthy and her director husband Ben Falcone is, predictably, a stultifying wet fart of a "comedy" which takes broad aim at the superhero genre, sans any charm or insight whatsoever.
Despite the appealing pairing of McCarthy and Octavia Spencer as two friends who become superheroes to combat the rise of supervillains, Thunder Force is a depressing void of humour that, even with its evidently sizable budget, feels strangely slapdash.
Save for an hilarious supporting performance from Jason Bateman as McCarthy's crab-human love interest, there's absolutely nothing here you're likely to remember for long.
Given that it was watched by 52 million viewers worldwide in its first month on Netflix, though, don't be totally shocked if we end up with a sequel sooner rather than later.
