20 Worst Movies Of 2021 (So Far)

17. Outside The Wire

Chaos Walking Daisy Ridley Tom Holland

When people talk about Netflix Originals having no mindshare in the cultural consciousness, they're referring to movies like Outside the Wire.

On the surface there's an appealingly lavish sci-fi action flick here, but even with Anthony Mackie's game leading man presence, this is a soulless, hopelessly formulaic genre offering that you're unlikely to remember for more than a week or two.

Truly, it came out back in January and was long forgotten by February, despite its evidently large budget and compelling premise, following an android officer (Mackie) who attempts to stop a nuclear catastrophe.

Like so many of Netflix's self-made genre joints, Outside the Wire feels like a season of mediocre TV truncated down into a two-hour sprint. The potential was there, but not the sufficient ideas to sustain a compelling feature.
