20 Worst Movies Of 2021 (So Far)

13. Infinite

Chaos Walking Daisy Ridley Tom Holland

Mark Wahlberg finally got his own superhero movie, yet despite the obvious potential with director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer) at the helm, Infinite is a lousy hodgepodge.

The concept of past lives will never not fascinate audiences, but layering it over a generically glossy action-centric blockbuster strips most of the appeal potential away.

Despite its slickly crafted action, Infinite invests little in a compelling story or, even worse still, characters you actually want to root for. It is, through and through, a blend of about a dozen different superior sci-fi joints.

Chiwetel Ejiofor is clearly having the time of his life as the hammy villain, but Wahlberg conversely gives perhaps the most charisma-deficient performance of his entire career.

Back when Infinite was intended for a theatrical release - it was ultimately dumped on Paramount+ - it was clearly supposed to kickstart a franchise, though off the back of this stodgy, unintentionally laughable effort, that seems most unlikely.
