20 Worst Netflix Original Movies EVER

19. Hillbilly Elegy

Because Netflix's platter of terrible movies isn't merely confined to low-effort genre films, there's also profoundly awful Oscar bait like Hillbilly Elegy.

Ron Howard's adaptation of J. D. Vance's memoir feels like an SNL parody of "prestige movies" in every fiber of its existence.

From Amy Adams and Glenn Close playing dress-up and rocking ridiculous accents to the sheer overwrought mawkishness of the poverty porn drama on display, it's a deeply disingenuous piece of work and, worse still, dead boring.

Close, as much we love her, was inexplicably nominated for an Oscar for her cartoon of a performance, though fittingly also received a Razzie nod, while Amy Adams delivers a rare off-key turn that inspires much unintentional laughter.

Howard may be an incredibly hit-and-miss filmmaker but this is easily one of the worst things he's ever produced.
