20 Worst Performances In Superhero Movies

15. Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern) - Green Lantern

While it's inarguable that Ryan Reynolds was really trying to deliver a fantastic interpretation of Hal Jordan, and he's basically the best thing in the film, his performance was still wonky enough that many called for the actor to never get near another superhero ever again.

Casting Reynolds as this oddly self-serious version of Jordan was a huge mistake, because the script should've embraced Reynolds' best instincts as an actor and made Jordan more fun and likeable.

It didn't help that director Martin Campbell made the poor decision to render the Lantern suit entirely in CGI, which looked awful due to the bizarrely low-fi visual effects given the movie's stonking $200 million budget.

Throw in a wealth of awful digital action sequences and reams of cliched placeholder dialogue, and you have a film that never even gave its star a chance.
