Gangster Vinnie Ricorso went to City Hall to challenge The Joker's claim to Grissom's empire, causing The Joker to show up in an outrageous circus ringleader get-up and confront him. He pulls out a gigantic quill pen and tells Vinnie, "Time to pay the cheque!" before throwing the pen at his neck, causing it to lodge in his throat and instantly kill him. And of course, the Clown Prince of Crime follows up with the inevitable one-liner, "The pen is truly mightier than the sword" before escaping the area. Again, it's silly as anything, but brutal enough, especially for a PG-13 movie, that it's strangely acceptable.
