The film begins with two thieves robbing a family at gunpoint, stealing the father's wallet. We then cut to them checking out their loot, with one of them expressing joy at finding an American Express card in the wallet. Though Burton doesn't provide a close-up shot of the card itself or focus on the logo at all, he does have the villain say the company's tagline, "Don't leave home without it". Is there any need for this to be in the movie other than for Warner Bros. to net a little advertising money from Amex? It's totally transparent, but at least it's not as ridiculous as the Amex product placement in Batman and Robin, where Batman pulls out a...Bat...credit card ("Never leave the cave without it").
