20 WTF Moments From Tim Burton's Batman

18. Harvey Dent Is...Black!?

Long before the huge racial controversies of recent comic book movies such as Daredevil, Thor and this year's Fantastic Four, Tim Burton decided to cast Lando Calrissian himself, Billy Dee Williams, as Gotham's steely District Attorney Harvey Dent, despite the character traditionally being white in the comics. It goes without saying that Williams did a totally great job in the role, small though it was, but this created a strange disconnect when Dent was recast within the same continuity for 1995's Batman Forever, with the very white Tommy Lee Jones replacing Williams. Reportedly, Williams was originally lined up to play Two-Face in Batman Returns before the character was ditched, so instead fans just got used to the idea of a black Dent and they were then somewhat amusingly given a white Two-Face.
