10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed
4. Rust
The Alec Baldwin-starring Western Rust made global headlines in October 2021 when, 12 days into filming, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed by a bullet discharged by Baldwin while rehearsing a shooting sequence.
Production was swiftly shut down and, for a time, many analysts believed the film would simply be abandoned, despite claims of the producers to the contrary.
Filming indeed ultimately resumed in April 2023 and was completed the next month, with the movie now set to premiere at Camerimage this coming November.
Even though a lawsuit was settled with Hutchins' family, and its impending premiere is being mounted as a tribute to Hutchins' life and career, Rust's release remains incredibly controversial, with many feeling that the project should've been abandoned following such gross negligence on the production side.
Either way, the low-budget Western - which was produced for just $8 million - is unlikely to secure major theatrical distribution regardless of critical reception, with many moviegoers simply not wanting to support a film which left one of its crew members dead.
