7. They Will Kill You
The box office failure of Kirill Sokolov's comedy horror-action film They Will Kill You has absolutely nothing to do with its quality, and all to do with marketing and timing.
Basically, Warner Bros. made the extremely ill-advised decision to release it just a week after Ready or Not 2: Here I Come - a film to which it had a not-dissimilar premise.
And while They Will Kill You did have a fun twist which the marketing didn't spoil, Warner Bros. probably would've been smart to give that wrinkle away to help differentiate it from the aforementioned horror sequel.
Between this, the lack of star power, and general "wait for streaming" vibe of it all, it's no surprise at all that They Will Kill You fell a hair short of even recouping its low $20 million budget.
Thankfully the film performed better on streaming, but with a few smarter decisions for its theatrical rollout it would've surely made considerably more bank.
