Terrifier creator Damien Leone has promised fans that the impending fourth film will finally unveil the backstory of Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton), and while horror has generally endured mixed results with demystifying its most iconic villains, there are undeniably many, many fans who want answers.

And from what little we know about Terrifier 4 so far, it sure seems like Leone is going to unfurl Art's origin story in an unexpected way. 

For one, he's not going to save it for some big, revelatory climax - according to Leone himself, Art's backstory will be revealed in the first 15 minutes of the franchise-capping sequel.

Beyond that, Leone has also promised that Art's origins will be revealed in a "Lynchian" way, seeming to suggest that it will be abstract in nature and, fingers crossed, not undermine the mystique that helped make the character so popular in the first place.

With all that in mind, don't expect Art's big reveal to be a straightforward, easily digested affair, and for the sake of the character, that's probably for the best.
