20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Might Surprise You

When Warner Bros. first announced that they were developing a comic book movie based on the iconic DC supervillain Clayface, many immediately pictured a big-budget blockbuster, because frankly why wouldn't you?

But this entry into James Gunn's DC Universe is actually taking a bolder and more unexpected approach by not only leaning hard into the body horror aspect of its shapeshifting title character, but doing it on a mere $40 million budget.

This low price tag is likely an attempt to offset the film's R rating, but even so, one might wonder how such a low-budget film will pull off the VFX wizardry necessary to realise Clayface in live-action form.

The simple answer is that Clayface will probably only be featured periodically in his clay form, with most of the movie focused on his human alter-ego, Matt Hagen (Tom Rhys Harries), using his shapeshifting ability to get revenge on the gangsters who disfigured him.

That might be disappointing to some, but considering the film has been co-written by the legendary Mike Flanagan, it's easy to be hopeful.
