20 Actors Who Will CRUSH Upcoming Movie Roles

9. Karl Urban - Mortal Kombat II

The moment that 2021's Mortal Kombat reboot was released and concluded with a tease that franchise icon Johnny Cage would be introduced in the sequel, the rabid online fan-casting began.

And there was a joyous chorus when Warner Bros. later announced that the great Karl Urban would be portraying the hilariously egomaniacal martial artist-slash-movie star.

Urban has proven himself to be a thoroughly charismatic, hilarious badass in numerous roles over the years, best of all his iconic turn as Billy Butcher in the superhero series The Boys, so he's a snug fit to play Johnny Cage.

While some fans feel that the 53-year-old Urban is far too old to play Johnny, from what we've seen of him in the trailers so far, he seems set to roundhouse kick any and all pre-release negativity.

Plus, considering that some of the more recent Mortal Kombat games have depicted Johnny as middle-aged with adult children, there's existing precedent for an older Johnny.
