20 Recent Movie Rumours That Were Total BULL

10. Brendan Fraser Will Appear - Lee Cronin's The Mummy

The Rumour:

When the marketing machine for Lee Cronin's The Mummy started ramping up, there were murmurs from fans of the IP that Brendan Fraser - who of course led the hugely popular Rick O'Connell trilogy - would appear in the film in some capacity.

The Truth:

But Cronin's film was an entirely separate entity from Fraser's Universal-produced trilogy, instead being produced by Blumhouse and distributed by Warner Bros.

Cronin's name was even featured in the movie's title despite him hardly being a household name in a more overt attempt to distance the film from the Fraser ones.

But because that didn't stop the confusion, Blumhouse went and repeatedly tweeted, "Brendan Fraser is not in Lee Cronin's The Mummy."

Considering the sure temptation to cash-in on the confusion, that's pretty laudable, but to anyone really paying attention, it would've made no sense at all for Rick O'Connell to show up in Cronin's nasty-as-hell, R-rated, Evil Dead-flavoured Mummy movie.

Yet Fraser fans will finally get theirs when his currently-shooting fourth Mummy movie releases next October.
