9. The Jimmies Worship Jimmy Savile - 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
The Rumour:
28 Years Later's deeply polarising ending introduced audiences to the villainous Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell) and his band of "Fingers," who with their long blonde hair and tracksuits were all clearly styled after prolific British entertainer and sex offender Jimmy Savile.
This led many to assume that Jimmy and his gang were effectively a cult of Savile worshippers - albeit with the asterisk that, with the Rage virus outbreak beginning before his crimes were exposed in 2012, they presumably knew him only as a children's entertainer.
The Truth:
While it's certainly implied that the Jimmies model themselves after Savile while having zero knowledge of his vile history, there's no real cult worship aspect to it, and ultimately the Savile get-up is really just bewildering window-dressing.
Jimmy in fact leads a more familiar Satanist cult which only superficially resembles Savile, and that's about it.
