21 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In Star Wars
6. Terence Stamp Dropped Out Of Attack Of The Clones
This entry is slightly different to the rest, in that Terence Stamp did appear in The Phantom Menace as Senator Valorum, but then rather spectacularly withdrew his support for the franchise after that first entry, and pulled out of appearing in the subsequent sequels - much like his change of heart when an image of him from The Collector was used on the cover of Morrissey's "What Difference Does It Make" single (which he subsequently then had another change of heart on when his image was replaced with Morrissey's own). Stamp clearly did not enjoy working for Lucas on The Phantom Menace, given the quotes attributed to him since its release, and it seems he may have been the only member of the cast actually willing to address the issues of the film he notoriously called "boring":
"He may be a great visionary, Lucas, and he may be great with toys and effects and stuff, but he doesn't really strike me as someone who was really interested in acting."
Nailed on, as was his more notorious barbed quip that "actors prefer to work with actors.
