Sure, so Green Lantern isn't going to win any popularity contests in the DC Movies world, but at least they gave it a go (and frankly, Ryan Reynolds was a great match for Hal Jordan) and to their credit they did seem to have the confidence that it would go on to have sequels.

Obviously Mark Strong's Sinestro set up the rise of the Yellow Corps at the end, but it seems a sequel could also have included fellow villain Star Sapphire. In the comics, Carol Ferris goes on to gain power similar to Hal Jordan's but takes a different path to turn into the evil Star Sapphire, which is foreshadowed nicely in the film by the appearance of the supervillain's symbol on Ferris' flight helmet.

A version of Star Sapphire also briefly appears in Man Of Steel as the soldier who proclaims Superman to be "hot" is also called Carol Ferris.
