21 Jump Street Sequel: 4 Dos and 4 Don'ts To Make It Work

2. Do: Fill Out The Cast With Great Supporting Players

melissamccarthy_bridesmaids2 One of the joys of the first film was the wealth of comedic talent assembled for the smaller supporting performances: Ellie Kemper as the chemistry teacher who has a crush on Jenko, Chris Parnell as Schmidt's drama teacher, New Girl's Jake Johnson as the high school principal, Nick Offerman as the Deputy Chief of the police department, and of course, Ice Cube as the angy Captain Dickson all provided solid laughs and provided a nicely rounded universe of characters. For the sequel, the filmmakers have to continue to find great comedic pros who can fill out this world. Melissa McCarthy, whose star has risen since Bridesmaids, could be a great addition, as well as SNL's standout new cast member Kate McKinnon. And on the male front, Community's Donald Glover and Danny Pudi could benefit from more film exposure.
