21 Things Horror Movies Ruined For Every One

6. Prom/School Dances

Notable offenders: Carrie (1976), Prom Night (1980), Idle Hands (1999) Freaking out about finding a prom date? Worried about how much your limo is going to cost? Don't worry, in the world of horror movies you probably won't make it out of prom alive, so it doesn't even matter. Sure, prom is a magical moment in the life of a teenager. But prom can also be a night of disappointment, a night when twisted teens take jokes too far. Sometimes the prom queen even loses her head€”or maybe even shows up undead. The ultimate example of a horror movie prom gone wrong would have to go to Miss Carrie White in Brian De Palma's Carrie. In the film Carrie is an awkward high school girl... who just so happening to have telekinetic powers. Well, because kids were real jerks in the '70s her classmates pull a prank on her at prom by dumping a bucket of pig's blood on her head. This, of course, results in her systematically killing nearly everyone at the dance and promptly scaring a lot of us from every stepping foot in a school dance again.
