Because the 88-year-old Poitier is too ill to attend the ceremony, Jamie Foxx instead steps in to present the award to him at his home, along with his daughter, Sydney. She accepts the award for him and launches into a speech about what her father means to her, saying, "He is a scholar, he is a seeker, he is a mentor, he is a humanitarian...and he is a terrible dancer. Lest you start to think he is perfect, he is not: it's really quite something to see." Considering the guy's cinematic achievements and his age, we can probably let his lackluster dancing skills off. Still, it's always great to see the legend, and he didn't stop old age from letting him give a heart-warming speech about what this award means to him.
