23 Worst Movie Endings Since 2000

16. Smash Mouth ('Nuff Said) - Rat Race

Rat Race revolves around a game devised by quirky casino owner Donald Sinclair (John Cleese), challenging six teams to race to a New Mexico train station, with the winners collecting $2 million as their prize, all while the casino's high-rollers bet on the outcome. When the money is recovered from the train station, it ludicrously ends up tied to a balloon, which oh-so-conveniently lands in a benefit concert at which band Smash Mouth are performing. The racers all end up on stage and agree to give the money to charity, while protagonist Nick (Breckin Meyer) forces Sinclair and his rich buddies to match the amount donated to the concert, which rapidly rises during the credits, as Smash Mouth's hit All Star plays out and Sinclair weeps loudly. Cue the likes of Cuba Gooding Jr., Amy Smart, Rowan Atkinson and Whoopi Goldberg dancing and crowd-surfing as the movie finally comes to an end. Why It Sucks: Too many reasons. The kid excitedly saying "Woah! It's Smash Mouth!" confirms that the end of the movie is really just a laughably obvious plug for the band, the fact that the song absolutely sucks, and the corny dancing all combines to essentially give this movie one of the most obnoxious and irritating non-endings to a movie ever.
