13. Why Is Jean Grey Not In The X-Jet? - X2

Yes, the moment when Jean Grey lets herself "die" at the end of X2 was a nice hero moment before she became Phoenix and made everyone question if the women in their lives were capable of hiding an evil, murderous interior that comes out every now and then when she's in a bad mood (!), but it wasn't exactly very smart.

There is literally no reason why Grey couldn't simply have stayed inside the jet and lifted it out of the lake while simultaneously holding off the torrent of dam water: if she has the power to do them, why couldn't she have done so while not touching the ground? Do her powers inexplicably require her to be in contact with Mother Earth? No, she just does it in order to die, and that is frankly just silliness.
