23 X-Men Movie Mistakes You Probably Missed

11. Storm Learns A Whole New Power - X-Men: The Last Stand

Superheroes suddenly learning new powers in order to advance the plot is not a new thing by any means: Superman did it twice in his first movie and Batman's resourcefulness pretty much comes down to him having the ridiculous ability to adapt to any situation despite the obvious logistical issues (shark repellent spray, anyone?) The same trope happens in the X-Men universe during the battle between the Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men as Storm kills Callisto by basically borrowing Emperor Palpatine's Force lightning.

This would not be possible given that Storm's powers are to control the weather, and not to randomly shoot electricity at things, and there's clearly not a small localised electrical storm above Callisto to draw from.
