19. Good Time (2017)
Much like their later work on Uncut Gems, the Safdie Brothers' visceral thriller Good Time comes alive with a relentless energy so powerful it's intoxicating.
The film stars Robert Pattinson in perhaps his best role, as a criminal called Connie who works tirelessly - and with disastrous results - to get his younger brother out of jail following a botched robbery. What follows is a film that refuses to take a break, but is all the better for it.
Energetic, constantly twisting, and gloriously intense, Good Times works wonders with Pattinson's demanding central performance and engaging action beats, and is actually even more effective on a second viewing.
