24 Confirmed New Disney Films (& 24 Rumoured) Coming 2020-27

18. Avatar 2

Avatar 2
Fox

Release Date: 17th December, 2021

It feels like a lifetime since Avatar was released in cinemas, becoming the highest grossing movie of all time in the process, and the first of the MANY sequels is still to materialise.

Happen it will, though: Cameron's been working on it for some time now, and with the Disney-Fox merger complete, it has a firm release date of December 2021, from which point every Christmas will see Disney alternate between Avatar and Star Wars. The sequels will continue to build the world and tell the story of Jake and Neytiri, with all the main cast members returning alongside newcomers such as Kate Winslet and Vin Diesel.

17. PREDICTED Captain Marvel 2

Captain Marvel Brie Larson
Marvel Studios

Release Date: 18th February, 2022

It might not have been officially announced, but as soon as Captain Marvel hit that delicious billion dollar mark at the box office - just to delight to dudebros calling out their SJW bullsh*t even more - a sequel was always coming. It already was, to be honest, because Marvel's supremos have already been vocal on their plans to make the character a lead in the future of the MCU.

We're likely to see a 1990s set story once more, since the original ends with Carol heading out into space with the surviving Skrulls to find the other members of their race forced into hiding. Let's hope they double down on the Kree/Skrull war (and it's likely we're going to see more of Lee Pace's Ronan at least), because there's definitely more of that story to tell.

For a start, we need to know how it all properly ends. And if that comes with a healthy slice of 90s nostalgia (even off-Earth), then even better.
