Release: 2015 Status: Post-Production The rights to this apocalyptic thriller about a killer mobile phone signal were snapped up back in 2006 when the novel was published, but it took until 2012 for 1408 co-stars Sam Jackson and John Cusack to be cast as part of a band of survivors looking to save humanity. Prospects: Having John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson in a movie together might have been big news a decade or more ago, but both are very much a mixed bag, only showing their best in fleeting glimpses these days. The concept is good (aren't they always), but it's not King's best work and that doesn't bode well for the adaptation either, though King has "fixed" the ending from the novel, which he disliked. Eli Roth might have done something fun with it, but he was replaced early on with Paranormal Activity 2's Tod Williams.
