24 Predictions For This Oscar Season's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
11. The Hateful Eight (94%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "Another dialogue-driven marvel for Quentin Tarantino, The Hateful Eight is a smaller, more intimate affair, but no less superbly acted, beautifully written or sharply directed." Tarantino's virtually untarnished track record speaks for itself, and with his latest movie shifting away from sprawling set-pieces, instead opting for a more intimate, tense dramatic thriller vibe, there's a good chance even those critics who usually sniff at QT's ultra-violence may find themselves seduced by it here. That's right, The Hateful Eight may in fact score the highest RT score of the director's career, even ending up one point above Pulp Fiction's 93%. Though it'll be hard-pressed to end up with an average score even close to Pulp's astonishingly rare 9/10, expect QT's return to claustrophobic, loaded dialogues, complete with his most ambitious cinematography yet (the entire film is shot in 70mm) to go over gangbusters with the film press. As anyone who's read the leaked script knows, this has "classic" written all over it.
