24 Predictions For This Oscar Season's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
10. Burnt (58%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "Bradley Cooper tries hard to overcome Burnt's pat script, though how much he succeeds will depend on the viewer's tolerance for redemption drama cliches." Having gone through two name changes, being directed by hit-and-miss filmmaker John Wells (The Company Men, August: Osage County) and suffering a mixed reception from early test screenings, it's hard to expect much more from Burnt than a relatively familiar redemption story, even if the cast is undeniably awesome. Still, this one had Oscar hype written all over it a few months ago (and in some quarters still does), so if it can't even scrape a Fresh 60% rating, it'll feel like a majorly missed opportunity for all involved (especially star Cooper, who may miss out on his fifth (!) Oscar nomination as a result). Plus, critics might feel that it's just a little too similar to Jon Favreau's excellent Chef from last year, and funnily enough, this film originally had that name until the production heard about Favreau's movie.
