24 Predictions For This Oscar Season's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
3. Our Brand Is Crisis (69%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "A star-studded remake of a riveting documentary, Our Brand Is Crisis lives up to its source material while delivering a slew of impressive performances." David Gordon Green is a frustratingly inconsistent director, with his 10 movies to date scoring 6 Fresh ratings and 4 Rotten ones, going from lame genre comedies to fascinating indie dramas at the drop of a hat. His latest film may pick up some flak, just as The Walk and Snowden undeniably will do, for following an acclaimed documentary on the subject (and in this case straight-up adapting the doc), but a strong cast (including Sandra Bullock, Billy Bob Thornton, Scoot McNairy, Anthony Mackie and Ann Dowd) and incisive screenplay from Oscar-nominated writer Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Solider Spy) could easily put that major bugbear to bed. Like most of even Green's best films, it won't score universal praise, but it'll also be difficult for the majority of critics to ignore the movie's disturbing commentary on American political campaign strategies. In terms of Oscars? Less likely, but not impossible.
