24 Predictions For This Oscar Season's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
19. Bridge Of Spies (91%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "Reuniting Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks for the first time in over a decade, Bridge of Spies gets the best out of them with a tense, sharply directed Cold War thriller." If the most common complaint about Spielberg's work is that his movies are often too sentimental, expect a script from the Coen Brothers to effortlessly take care with that, and likely result in a witty, riveting period thriller on par with something like Ben Affleck's Argo. With so much talent behind it, it's practically impossible to imagine this one scooping anything but strong acclaim, and from the material shown off so far, it looks like another meticulously crafted hit for Spielberg. Considering that his 40+ year career making movies has only seen him direct three Rotten movies (1941, Hook and The Lost World: Jurassic Park), the odds of another winner are heavily in his favour. Expect this one to be a major awards player early next year, and if not, something's gone heinously wrong.
