25 Best Easter Eggs & References In The MCU So Far

13. Project Pegasus (The Avengers)

In the Avengers movie, Project Pegasus was the name of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secret operation studying the Tesseract at the base that was destroyed by said item in the thrilling opening stages of the movie. The facility was located in an unspecified location in the Mojave Desert and was infiltrated by Loki, who used the Tesseract's power to enter via a portal from deep space. The facility was run by S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director Nick Fury. It's an interesting inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because the initiative has researched alternate dimensions in the comic books, which led those familiar with the comic books to believe that, perhaps, alternate dimensions will come to be a part of the movie franchise - and that could lead to a near infinite number of possibilities for future movies.
