When Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn was young, he had a crush on Alyssa Milano.
The star of Whos the Boss?, Melrose Place, Charmed and Mistresses, who is two years Milanos senior, was the source of his attraction when he was a child and, as a result, he gave the New York Beauty a cute little nod in his Marvel space epic. Gunn named Peter Quill AKA Star-Lord's ship "the Milano", which may have gone over most people's heads but, when you realise what the reason for that name is, it really does emphasise the kind of creative fun that Gunn likes to have when hes making his movies.
