25 Best Vampire Movies Ever Made
11. Only Lovers Left Alive
A critical darling from indie filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, Only Lovers Left Arrive brings together the acting might of Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston as a married couple of vampires who’ve been together for centuries.
Living separately, but still wholly in love, the pair decide to meet in Detroit, however, Ava (Mia Wasikowska) – Eve’s (Swinton) drug-addled sister – makes an appearance, dampening the couple’s reunion.
Complete with all Jarmusch’s signature idiosyncrasies that have defined his career, Only Lovers Left Alive is less of a vampire film than a thoughtful love story mired in its literary influences. Though the hipster aesthetic won’t appeal to everyone, this film is proof that a vampire love story can be done a lot more artfully and stylistically than Twilight could ever dream of being.
