25 Best Vampire Movies Ever Made
10. Bram Stoker's Dracula
The multi Oscar-winning film from five-time Oscar-winning director Francis Ford Coppola and starring Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman, Bram Stoker’s Dracula showed the world that vampire films could still be taken seriously.
Despite some criticism being fired at Keanu Reeves’ shaky English accent in his portrayal of Jonathan Harker (which was described by Total Film as being “a black hole of sex and drama”) the film was nevertheless a massive success, grossing an succulent $215 million against an initial $40 million budget alongside receiving plenty of praise.
A grand gothic period drama and century-spanning romance, Coppola’s use of creative practical effects and a haunting score by Wojcierch Kilar sucks you straight into the moody atmosphere. And, of course, any discussion of this film wouldn’t be complete without praising Oldman’s multi-faceted performance as the iconic vampire, which removed the character from the stereotypical depictions of the past and gave audiences something different.
