18. Dracula: Prince Of Darkness
If it was Bela Lugosi who took
vampires into the movie mainstream, then it was Christopher Lee who turned this
movie monster into the stuff of legends as part of the Hammer Horror films.
Although he first portrayed the count in 1958’s Dracula, it’s arguably the sequel that came eight years later, Dracula: Prince Of Darkness, that proved to be the better film.
Directed by Hammer veteran Terence Fisher, this sequel follows a group of English tourists who travel to Dracula’s castle where his servant uses one of the party’s blood to bring his master back from the dead. From herein, plenty of B-Movie goodness unfolds.
And despite Lee not speaking a single line in the film (although there's some debate on whether he refused to speak the lines he was given or if he wasn’t given any lines in the first place), his powerful presence onscreen is to die for.
