25 Best Zombie Movies Ever Made
13. The Return Of The Living Dead
There is a lot about the Night of the Living Dead that isn’t so straightforward, from the conflict in ownership, to the fact that Romero failed to fill in the correct paperwork which meant anyone was able to use his formula and well, with Return of the Night of the Living Dead, attempt to continue it.
However, unlike Night of the Living Dead, Return seeks to be fun and put simply, more upbeat. The characters for one aren’t the roster of survivors you’d expect, but metal head teens, foolish businessmen and insane doctors to name a few. Return might also be responsible for zombies seeking “brains” as the need for them is explained in much detail by one of the restrained corpses.
This campy homage to George A. Romero's zombie classic, Night of the Living Dead became an instant classic and will always be remembered for its betrayal of said walking dead. For the time, these were also some of the best-looking zombies to be put to screen, with Tarman being the standout.
Talking zombies would’ve been enough, but having them be funny and clever, turned this into a beautiful work of cinema.
