25 Best Zombie Movies Ever Made
8. Day Of The Dead (1985)
The third and final entry in the classic George A. Romero zombie trilogy, Day of the Dead depicts how a lack of human communication will cause chaos and the fall of even the smallest pockets of society. This is the darkest of Romero’s original trilogy with a heavy focus on tension, rather than laughs at the Dead’s expense.
One of the major differences here compared to Romero’s previous work and many other movies in the genre, is that of Bub the zombie and his humanisation throughout the runtime.
Whilst serving mainly as a plot device, Bub becomes the breakout star of the Dead trilogy as he is beautifully realised alongside the strongest characters Romero has ever written. You just want to see Captain Rhodes get his.
Night was confusing, Dawn was fun, but this is the original - and still the best example of how us as humans, will eventually defeat ourselves during a zombie apocalypse. Soon as there is nobody to report to, the rules will all go window as eventually, everyone just become food for the dead.
