Plot: Barney Ross and his team are under a serious threat from their co-founder Conrad Stonebanks, who has turned against them and has made it his mission to destroy the Expendables. The last Expendables film actually managed to be a bigger hit than the first, grossing over $300 million worldwide and even earning some respect from critics. The third film sees some of the cast returning for another round. Obviously, Stallone is back, but so is Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, and Arnold Schwarznegger. Stallone has also managed to bring in Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, Kelsey Grammer, and Victor Ortiz. Anyone else find it weird that Kelsey Grammer is in two summer blockbuster films this year? Good for him. Can Expendables 3 build on the success of the second one? Stallone and Arnie sure hope so. While audiences seem to love seeing all these action stars get together, they seem less enthusiastic when they perform solo. Stallone's Bullet to the Head and Schwarzenegger's The Last Stand both underperformed when they came out last year. Even when Stallone and Schwarzenegger teamed up for last October's Escape Plan, not many people showed up. So, while these Expendables movies do give these action stars a chance to shine on the big screen, it does not seem to do much for their careers overall. It's especially bad for Stallone. Not even a team up with Robert Deniro this past Christmas could get people excited. Rough deal. U.S. Release Date: August 15th
