25 Greatest Easter Eggs From The Last 20 Years Of Horror

2. Final Destination 5

The fateful series based upon death€™s predilection for ensuring everybody dies when they€™re supposed to hinges on the very idea of foreshadowing. It€™s the crux of the premise for each of the five teen terrors - one poor soul is shown a vision of a fatal catastrophe, i.e. a plane crash, a pile-up, a bridge collapse, and then chooses to deviate from those events. Thus, the hero saves everyone€™s lives until Death picks them off one-by-one.

That€™ll teach them.

The fifth instalment cleverly looped around at the end, and was only in the last moments revealed as a prequel to the very first Final Destination. Ah, it€™s so clever. While most were dumbfounded at how such a blatant case of misdirection had slipped them by, the film does include several teeny tiny hints indicating the film€™s time period.

The chosen €œseer€, Sam, mentions wanting to take an internship in Paris at a prestigious restaurant - Le Cafe Miro 81. The same bistro Clear, Alex and Carter dine at in the first movie. Olivia€™s boyfriend timestamps the movie by comparing her to singer Lisa Loeb - whose big hit €œStay€ was released at the time of the original. Molly listens to an Everclear song on the radio - again, a hit in 1997. Possibly the biggest give-away that many missed was the P.A. announcement near the start of the film asking for all pagers to be turned off. Could you get more nineties?
