25 Greatest Easter Eggs From The Last 20 Years Of Horror

24. The Conjuring

James Wan€™s chilling horror was based on one incident from the life of real paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren. The couple spent most of their married life pursuing the things that make you wish you€™d not signed a year lease on that huge mansion in the middle of nowhere. Their exploits are the kind of nitty gritty that urban legends are afraid of. Still, it's the kind of life experience that can be brought to a larger audience to scare them silly.

As two experts in their field, it makes sense that at some point in the film, they€™ll mention other cases. With the main €œissue€ resolved towards the film€™s end, Lorraine hangs up the phone after a conversation with a priest, who wants to discuss a case in Long Island. The ears of keen horror aficionados everywhere perked up.

Long Island is where the notorious Amityville Horror took place, and the next big case the Warrens would take.
