25 Harry Potter Deaths Ranked By How Viciously They Ripped Your Heart Out

1. Fred Weasley

OK. Deep breath, everyone. This one is going to hurt. It is actively cruel that JK spent seven books and the better part of eight films crafting the idea of the Weasley twins as a unit, something that would never ever be torn apart, only to do this in the very last book/movie. You can probably count on one hand the times that they're referred to separately, right? So how dare you, JK Rowling? How dare you? We all knew deep down that the Weasley family wasn't going to survive this war completely intact, that there were too many of them all actively involved and it would be unrealistic if they all somehow managed to make it through. But it seemed too unfair to think about that the twins would be separated. In a way it almost feels kinder to have let them die together, rather than making George soldier on alone. And the way it happens is just awful too. Fred has just reconciled with Percy, they're having a laugh together, and then BOOM. It's over. The Weasley twins are no more. There's a meme floating around somewhere about how when George looks into the Mirror of Erised, he just sees himself... only it's not actually him, it's Fred. If that doesn't make you just want to die, I don't know what would. Which do you think is the most emotionally devastating Harry Potter death? Share your picks below in the comments thread.
